Playlist Thursday: POP Goes the World!

I can't believe it's Thursday already!  Guess that's what happens when you've got a short work week! You know what another Thursday means?  Yeah...it's Playlist Thursday.  This week's theme is POP.  Of course the first thing that popped (ha ha!) into my head was this gem from Montreal based band Men Without Hats.....You're welcome.

Pop covers a broad spectrum of music but I always think of it as those catchy "ear worm" songs that you can't get out of your head, regardless of actual genre.   Much like the one above.  As much as I hated that song, I had to admit it was catchy.

The "rules" of Play List Thursday:

Something Old:  Songs that are at least 5 years old.
Something Current:  Songs that have been released in the past year.
Something to Consider:  This is the wild card category.  Any song goes:  old, current, guilty pleasure, whatever floats yer boat.

And because Brian is such a cool dude, he actually posts all the participants play lists on his blog so you can see what other runners are listening to as well.

Something Old
Artist: Katy Perry
Title: Hot n Cold
Side Note:  Absolute guilty pleasure for me.  This song ranks right up there with Lady Gaga's Let's Dance.  Not anything I normally listen to but geez is it ever catchy.  And it's got a pretty good beat too.  Now I *know* this doesn't quite make the 5 year cut as it was released in 2008 but it's pretty close.
Quotable:  "You change your mind like a girl changes clothes".

 Something New
Artist:  Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen
Title: Good Time
Side Note:  Ear Worm Alert!!!  Try as I might I cannot get that chorus out of my head.
Quotable:  "Woke up on the right side of the bed, what's up with the Prince song in my head?"

Something To Consider
Artist:Wolf Gang
Title: The King and All of His Men
Side Note:  This may be classified as alternative in itunes but it's still pretty darn catchy, and it's a song that I love to run to.
Quotable:  "How to be sure that what you say is the truth, when I see flaws in everything that you do."

What songs are on your guilty pleasure play list?
